February 2007 BMTI obtains approval for Marine Environment Protection course from the local Department of Shipping. This course will give the trainees a deep insight into the requirement of MARPOL, Ballast Water Management and Anti-fouling Convention. The course is fast becoming popular amongst leading employers of Bangladeshi seafarers. February 2007 The 18th intake of Preparatory course for Class-3 (Deck), OOW level commences in BMTI Dhaka with 15 students. Because of the quality of training, BMTI now monopolizes the course in Bangladesh. January 2007 BMTI candidates achieves 100% passing result in Radar Navigation at Operation level examination. This is the first time that any institute has achieved such result and has become a model for other institutes to follow. December 2006 BMTI negotiates with leading provider of training materials from reputed maritime video training suppliers to procure world quality video materials to advance maritime training in Bangladesh. November 2006 K-Line representatives visit Bangladesh to see BMTI facilities to recruit officers from Bangladesh. They expressed their satisfaction at the quality of training in BMTI. October 2006 BMTI adds Seamanship Examiner modules to its CBT facilities to enhance orals examination standards in teaching. This has been reflected in the current performance of BMTI trainees in their competency examination. Septmeber 2006 New books and publications have been added to BMTI library. Much of these books were available through grants from K-Line. The institute acknowledges with gratitude the contribution made. August 2006 New medical simulators for suture and male catheterization
unit to ugrade the medical courses conducted by BMTI on behalf of local
Department of Shipping and MCA, UK. BMTI upgrades power back-up facliity for all its simulation unit. This enables the exercises to progress uninterrupted during power failure period. May 2006 BMTI gets approval for conducting Deck Officer Class 4 and 5 preparatory courses. These courses are designed for near continental and coastal vessel mates and masters. Medical equipment for enhancement of maritime training, viz. male catheterization simulator and suture manikin procured for advanced medical courses. April 2006 March 2006 February 2006
Jan 2006 Bangladesh Maritime Training Institute
installs Chemical Tanker cargo simulator at BMTI Chittagong. The simulator can
load and discharge up to six grades of cargo, listing capability, ballast/
deballast capability among other functions.
